SARAH POOK

by Urban Provide

'Kingdom of Pride'

Skull and Bones
As I sifted through submissions both on instagramthefancy, and the website I stumbled upon Sarah Pook. Her Piece “Skull and Bones” shown above is what I fell in love with. I am so happy that she shared all of her pieces, and am more pleased to announce her winner of “I don’t know what” week.Sarah’s art pieces are a magnificent blend of pen, pencil, and digital media. I noticed myself the blend and loved the incorporation of a vintage grain on some images.

“By a Dreamer for Dreamers”

In her words, her inspiration for these pieces involve coastal breezes a relaxing Sunday and taking time to eat with friends. The slow relaxed feel gives time to put into work and in my opinion are great places to start your artistic ventures.
Check out the link below and learn some more about Sarah and her amazing work.

Sam adding his Handmade tiles.

Sam Goewey Art from Society Skateshop on Vimeo.

About me : Sam Goewey
I was born and raised in Redwood City and now reside in San Carlos. I represent the flavor of the Bay Area. I am a fan of the organic artist - the one who creates to create - without choice or directions. They have existed in every society from the beginning of time and will exist until the end of time. It is in their arena that I choose to throw my hat. I will always paint and create without choice or directions.

So follow me and see what I come up with along the way.

About my Art

The present form my art has taken is moveable magnetic wooden tiles that have been epoxy resin finished. When pieced together on a framed sheet of metal the tiles form the image I have painted. The paintings extend to the "viewer/participant/artist/you" the option to play with the image by mixing up the pieces in any way one sees fit or is inspired to do. The frame also comes into play creating the option for a vertical or horizontal image depending on how you decide to hang the frame.

This idea of changeable art expresses the knowledge I find most valuable in life; the knowledge of one’s own ability to change and the empowerment that coexists with the choice to change. Be it changing your mind, your habits or even your entire point of view....whatever the case may be, the ability to change course and the willingness it takes to change naturally engenders an optimistic perspective on the future.  It increases the awareness that at any moment an old perspective can end and a fresh new perspective can begin. In an instant the whole world can change.

A vital and useful tool for change comes from being inspired by fellow humans. People can act asconduits for transformational change through their own decision to change, and that is where you come in. Play with the art, change the art and try to open my eyes to what you find in my own art by making it yours.

Have fun with the idea that change is possible and that Change is Good.

"Oh Floral Deer"

Rebecca Kontrec or Becc, comes froma very small town named Merbein, in Victoria, Australia. Becc an 18 year old finishing off high school is aiming to go to UNI, and become a School Teacher. (Art teacher I hope!)

Her instagram documents all of her sketches while she is currently studying art.

Becc’s portfolio theme is a fantastic choice for sketch artists and personally one of my favorites. ‘Memories and Imagination’ by Rebecca Kontrec displays quirky, morphed, and abstract yet realistic work. When I saw it, I fell in love. The feel of it really captures the boho chic essence bursting out of Australia’s booming art world.

“I've always enjoyed art, and drawing is not just a skill. It's much like a science, to explore and experiment with loads of different media but like anything, we prefer different things. Art is Unique.”

So what is Beccs weapon of choice?
In her words;  “I prefer to use watercolor, water soluble pencils, fine liner and my current addiction & preferred media, is Liquid Ink (Winsor & Newton Ink - Black Indian Ink) and Calligraphy/Ink Nibs.

What inspires an artist like Rebecca?

Rebecca Kontrec is a strong follower of Tattoo Apprentice, Model, Illustrator, Sara Fabel and all of her work.

“She has inspired me to experiment and test the shades of Black and White, as well as line (no shading or colour).
 “

Beccs note to Sara and aspiring artists, “Love your work and be sure to check her out on Instagram.”

“Massive Thanks to Tyler of Urban Provide for allowing me to be featured on this website,

There's no better Reward for hard work! Keep it up!”

I agree! Hard work should never be ignored and I really am glad she likes the site. Gifted artists like her, with a clearly strong work ethic, will go far in the art world.
My personal advice for Becc, never limit yourself.  You have real talent, and an original style that I don’t think will ever get old!

Photography in Hollywood

Brandon Scales’s ventures of Hollywood rolled out some amazing photos. Here is his story behind the pieces.
"I spent one year in the center of the media empire that is Hollywood, California.  Hollywood is as American as apple pie, country music and the Christian God.  I was surprised to find none of these in such an iconic city. Just beneath the surface, this city of lights is well oiled money making machine; Dropping off busloads of tourists and handing them fliers picturing Scientology's own Tom Cruise who will be premiering his new Jewish funded action film. Where is the apple pie, they ask, “baseball, or your Jesus?”

“ One of those entities does exist amongst the glitz, the glamour and the slum that is Hollywood California. Although it may not be what you’d expect to find, there is a presence there if you look hard enough."

'A Good Haircut & A Skinny Pair Of Jeans'

Morgan Connoley, is a twenty seven year old Australian Illustrator.

Her inspiration for this piece is, Fashion, Models, Fashion Blogs, Clothing, and the Runway.
It’s taken Morgan almost 10 years to get to where she is today. She studied Visual Arts, graduating with a degree in Graphic Design. It’s been a very natural, organic journey for her, which she has been constantly inspired to experiment with new mediums and push herself outside of her 'artistic comfort zone’.

Past work experience regarding Morgans art

(galleries, websites, stores, ect.) My work is showcased and for sale in numerous shops, galleries & cafes throughout Geelong & Melbourne.

Check out these sites for more information on this talented Aussie Artist!
